"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." - Galatians 6:9-10 (NIV)
There are several teams that meet regularly to plan and work with the different ministries of the church. This is one way to encourage our members to serve the Lord and get involved with the work of the church.
Below is a list of some of the ministries that are available for our members, friends and visitors. For those ministries that meet on weeknights, please call the church at 757-588-2077 or email office@OceanViewCRC.org to confirm the place, dates and times.

Morning Worship - (Nursery is provided) Our morning worship service is conducted at 11 am each Sunday. We have a worship team that leads the congregation in the singing of hymns and praise songs. The children up to age 12 are then dismissed to Children's Church for a regular Sunday School lesson. Lord's Supper/Communion is offered at least once every two months. The pastor's sermon is usually recorded and a CD of the sermon can be requested. Also, you can go to Sermons for the list of sermons available online. "O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!" - Psalm 34:3 (RSV) |

On the first Sunday of each month, a fellowship meal is held following the morning worhip service. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share. For all other Sundays, light lunch is available after the morning worhip service. There is a sign-up sheet for up to three families to volunteer to bring a light lunch for a Sunday. These meals allow time for the congregation to get to know one another better in an informal setting. |
|
Our Sunday evening worship service is held at 6 PM. This more informal service includes a time of "congregation's choice" singing of hymns and praise songs; open congregational prayer and discussion of the morning's text.

Congregational prayer meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 8:30 pm and are open to all. For urgent prayer needs, there is a prayer chain that can be activated at any time. To send a request or a praise down the prayer chain, contact any of the elders or deacons. |
|
The men of the church gather for breakfast, usually followed by a Bible study or lesson, or a service project, or some repair/maintenance work on the church building, one Saturday morning per month. In addition, they meet every first, third and fifth Wednesday nights from 7:30pm to 8:30pm for Bible study. |

First Place 4 Health is a biblically based program to promote weight loss by addressing the 4-sides of our being. Each session requires a 12-week commitment. The program is designed to focus on our spiritual, emotional, physical and mental needs so that we live a balanced life, giving Christ first place. While most join this group just to lose weight, many of our participants have shared that their personal walk with Jesus became stronger as a result of the First Place 4 Health approach, which includes Bible Study, scripture reading and memorization, prayer and encouragement along with the "Live-It" food plan. The group meets on Mondays at 6:45pm at the church. Come join us! |
|
Small Groups or Shepherding Groups Shepherding Groups, sometimes called covenant groups or cell groups, are small groups of people (5-10 members) within the church that meet to study God's Word and support one another in their Christian walks. There is currently one group, called the Wellspring Shepherding Group, that meets twice a month on Fridays at 7:30 pm in Norfolk. |
|
Our church currently supports missionaries with the Christian Reformed World Missions and Africa Inland Mission. During the period from the Sunday after Easter through the Pentecost Sunday, we hold the world missions campaign to promote the work of the missionaries in different countries. |
|
Other fellowship opportunities Other fellowship activities include summer cook-outs, going to baseball games and other activities designed to get church members together just for the fun of it. |
