Now Thank We All Our God

The hymn "Now thank we all our God" is one of the great Thanksgiving hymns ever written. It was written by Martin Rinkart, a Lutheran pastor in the city of Eilenburg, Saxony, in the middle of the 30 Years War. The 30 Years War was one of devastation across Germany. Some estimate that 1/3 of the population died due to wars, famines caused by wars, and plagues that were aided by lack of food. But despite all this Martin Rinkart wrote the below hymn. Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices Who wondrous things has done, in Whom His world rejoices; Who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way With countless gifts of love, and still are ours today. O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us, With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us; And keep us in His grace, and guide us when perplexed And free us from all ills in this world and the next. All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given, The Son and Him Who reigns with Them in highest heaven, The one eternal God Whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore. Contrast this to a plethora of advice to give thanks, but most never say to whom. From the NY Yankees website we have this "Girardi gives thanks for family, food, football." Not "Giradi gives thanks to God." Google has a little cartoon with all the animals bringing food to a table, but never giving thanks. When you search the first thanksgiving many call it a "harvest feast." Note that it is no longer Thanksgiving. Our local newspaper editorial used to have reprint the original writings - perhaps a section from William Bradford, or perhaps Abraham Lincoln's proclamation. But today there was nothing. So let us pause and give thanks to God.

Creation, Marriage, and Evolution

God created Adam and Eve.  In creating Eve, He created the perfect helpmate for a lonely Adam.  What a blessing from God - to have the perfect helpmate, specifically created to complement him.  This act of creation was so wonderful that God said that it was very good.  We read that Adam was created first, and that God formed Eve from Adam’s rib and was given a wife as his companion. Genesis states that it was Adam and Eve - one husband and one wife. We read why Eve was created and what her purpose was. We read of Adam’s responsibility and joy on seeing his wife. We see the joy of sex.
The problem with evolution is that without a specific Adam and Eve, marriage and
gender are compromised.
By tossing out Adam and Eve, the evolutionists destroys marriage.  For if there were many Adams, there could have been
- Adam and Eve, (male is in charge)
- Eve and Adam, (female is in charge)
- Eve and Adam and Evelyn,
- Eve and Adam and Steve,
- Adam and Eve and Steve,
- Adam and Steve,
- Adam and Rover, etc.
Tossing out Adam and Eve destroys God’s marriage plan and confuses proper gender roles.

Thank You God that You created Adam and Eve and You ordained marriage between one man and one woman.  Thank you that I don't have to compete.

Hate Crimes (cont.)

In my last blog I contended that murder is murder and murder is my definition a hate crime.  The problem is that some murders are considered worse than other murders if the victim is a homosexual.  In January 1989, Cindy Dixon of Laramie was raped and left out in the cold to die.  Her murderer was released from prison after serving four years.  In October 1988, Matthew Shepard was beaten and left out in the country to die.  His murderer received a life sentence without parole because he was a homosexual.
So why did Matthew Shepard die?  The common premise is that he died because some anti-gay people beat him up.  But Stephen Jimenez, author of The Book of Matt: Hidden Truths about the Murder of Matthew Shepard has uncovered a different story.  Aaron McKinney and Matthew Shepard had engaged in homosexual relations several times in the preceding weeks, so Matthew Shepard was murdered by one of his former homosexual partners.   Also, both were users and dealers of methamphetamine (meth).  The real reason Aaron murdered Matt was because he, Aaron, thought he could get $10,000 from Matt.  It was really a drug deal gone bad.
Unfortunately, the homosexual community turned the murder into a cause celebre, and the media did not investigate and bought the lie hook, line and sinker.  The murder was not an anti-homosexual crime, but over drugs and money.  The media should have done their job.

Notes:   The author of the book, Stephen Jimenez, is a homosexual. The Guardian is a UK newspaper and website.  The Advocate is a LGBT website.

My plea is that we need to investigate what really happened and to be very careful because many have an agenda.

Hate Crimes

Last month marked the 15th anniversary of the death of the homosexual Matthew Shepard.  For their role in the murder of Matthew Shepard, Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson each received 30 years imprisonment.  The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act expanded the 1969 United States federal hate-crime law to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.  Thus, if you murder someone because he is a homosexual you hate him.  If you murder someone for another reason, you must not hate him because it is not part of the Federal Hate-Crime law.  According to the FBI website "A hate crime is a traditional offense like murder, arson, or vandalism with an added element of bias."
The problem with hate crimes is that it makes a certain crime worse than another because of a bias.  Thee months after the Matthew Shepard murder, Cindy Dixon was raped, left out in the cold on 03 Jan 1999 and froze to death.  This murder also occurred near Laramie, Wyoming.  (Note that Cindy Dixon was Aaron McKinney’s, one of Matthew Shepard’s killers, mother.)  Cindy Dixon's murderer received only four years for her rape and death.  But there was no uproar in the press.  You have a Matthew Shepard Foundation, Matthew Shepard play, Matthew Shepard film.  But for a woman who was raped and murdered?  There is no Cindy Dixon Foundation, there is no Cindy Dixon play, or movie.  In fact, I would say that 99% of my readers never heard of the rape and murder of Cindy Dixon.  But 99% of my readers know that Matthew Shepard was a murdered homosexual.
Jesus said  "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.  (Matthew 5:21-22)

So please, don’t hate your brother.  All murder is wrong.  By definition, all murder is a hate crime.
